The scholarships listed are not sponsored by the Timber Lake School District. Also, scholarship scams do happen, please review these tips and be aware as you complete scholarships to avoid scams.
Here is an article outlining some potential websites to consider when looking for scholarships.
Remember to look at your Institute/College/University's pages for scholarships and research others.
Many of these scholarships must be RECEIVED by the deadline, not just postmarked. Make sure you pay attention to those details!
Also, scholarship donors are supporting your education. It is very meaningful to sent them a thank you note indicating what education you're pursuing and let them know that you sincerely appreciate their support!

- The USDA has two Scholars programs that offer scholarships for students seeking a bachelor’s degree at an eligible 1890 and 1994 Land-Grant Universities in the field of agriculture, food, natural resource sciences or other related. High school and current college students are eligible to apply for these two programs which provide full tuition, fees, books, room and board, and a summer internship which may convert to full-time employment with USDA after graduation.

- Applicant must be a senior in high school
- Applicant must have achieved at least two (2) of the following: (a) minimum of B+ average; (b)ranked in the top 25% of class; (c) ACT score of 24 or an SAT score of 1100 (Math and Reading)
- Applicant must have participated in two sports for at least two years in each sport
- Applicant must have earned at least one varsity letter in each of two sports
- Applicant must complete attached scholar/essay application
- Applicant must have a letter of recommendation from the high school athletic administrator/director
- School athletic administrator/director must be an NIAAA member and a member of their respective state athletic administrators association

- Provide contact information (phone and email) of two character references who can speak on behalf of the applicant’s ability to demonstrate perseverance. Contacts will also be asked to speak of dedication to the service of others. Character references may not be related to applicant. - Applicant, applicant’s parents or guardians must be a current member of South Dakota Farm Bureau, and must have been a member for 2 years.
- Must be accepted by an accredited school of higher learning and planning to study a minimum of one year as a full-time student.
- Must be 17 years of age or older, a high school graduate or a college freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior. If still in high school, must have an expected graduation date of Spring 2022.
- Applications from high school seniors must include a copy of most recent ACT score. All applicants must include current transcript with grade point average.
- Graduate students are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Scholarship is applied toward tuition fees only and will be awarded after the first semester.

- 1. A Son or daughter of any member (living, deceased or retired) of a fire department in South Dakota or an active member of a junior fire department in South Dakota.
2. A high school senior or student entering their first semester of college.
3. The applicant must be sponsored by a fire department that has 100% membership in the SD Firefighters Association for the current year.
4. The applicant may also be sponsored by a member of the SD Firefighters Auxiliary, a local fire department auxiliary or a member of the Dear Old Timers.
5. Preference will be given to those who are obtaining a fire science or emergency service degree.

- Donald Quimby spent his professional life in service to others as a teacher, coach, and administrator. - Scholarship Guidelines: 1. Student must be in their senior year of high school to apply. 2. Student must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. 3. Student must plan to attend a post-secondary vocational school, college, or university. Student chosen should reflect a great desire to achieve a post-secondary education. 4. The Aberdeen Valley of the Scottish Rite is taking applications for Book Grants. We will be awarding twenty (20) $250.00 grants in the Northeast South Dakota and greater Aberdeen area this spring. The applicant may attend a college, university, or post-secondary school of his or her choice.

Please ensure that submitted with the application is a copy of the high school transcript and an essay. The essay should be a paper no longer than one page describing their career plans and higher education major pursuits, connecting their future plans with their current community involvement.

- (Pronunciation is: Wee-Cho-Zan-Ee, Wee-Woke-Ee-Eye-Aye, Oh-Yah-Tay. Which is Lakota for "Health Helpers Society")
1. A Native American pursuing nursing – RN degree program
2. A member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe (CRST) – must show proof of tribal enrollment- It there are no qualified applicants from the CRST, then scholarship will be open to another tribal member with proof of enrollment.
- Proof of enrollment can be verified by contacting the tribe listed and then asking for an enrollment officer and asking them if they can give you an enrollment number, etc.
- 3. Open to second through fifth year students pursuing a Nursing degree that will give the RN (registered nurse) status. This would exclude LPN (licensed practical nurses and medical technicians).

- The Grand Commandery Knights Templar of South Dakota will award several scholarships of $1,000 each year to South Dakota residents who plan to attend a state Technical Institute in South Dakota. Successful candidates are US citizens who will demonstrate financial need and the capability to complete the vocational training program selected. Scholarships will be granted for one year but may be renewed for a maximum of five years.

- Must be between the ages of 16 – 25 years old
- Must (a) be a graduating high school student in good standing, (b) currently possess a high school diploma or GED, or (c) be currently enrolled and in good standing at a post-secondary institution or trade school.
- Dependent of a parent who suffered either an on the job fatality or injuries that have had a significant adverse effect on family income.
- Prior to award of the scholarship, applicant must demonstrate that they meet the minimum criteria for acceptance to the institution to which they have applied. This can be accomplished by either submitting the formal acceptance letter from the institution, or providing documentation (transcripts, tests scores) meeting the institution’s minimum admission criteria.

- South Dakota Education: Graduated from a South Dakota high school, have earned high school equivalency (such as a GED) in South Dakota, plan to attend post-secondary school in South Dakota
- Applicant must have completed at least 24 credits from a qualifying college or university, or 12 credits from a qualifying tech school or certified professional training institute by September of 2020 to be eligible. We will consider full-time post-secondary work experience in lieu of the post-secondary education requirement.
