Washington D.C. Youth Tour

  • Applications can be found here, in Mrs. Martin's Office, or at Moreau-Grand Electric Cooperative

  • Visit D.C. for a week! Get to experience memorials, monuments, museums, and more in our nation's capital!

  • As a former participant (summer of 2006), I can say this trip is an amazing

HOBY--Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership

  • HOBY Is a week long summer camp intended to help high school sophomores recognize and build their leadership skills. Students should talk to Mrs. Martin if interested.

 

YBA-Youth Business Adventure

  • YBA is a week-long business camp for high school juniors and sophomores


Intertribal Agriculture Council Membership & Youth Meeting in Las Vegas

  • Open to Native American Youth enrolled in a Federally Recognized Tribe or tribal descendants living on Indian owned land and entering high school grades 9-12

  • Travel scholarships will be given to the top essay submissions and include: Roundtrip airfare for youth and one chaperone, lodging accommodations at the Hard Rock Hotel & Resort, registration for both youth and chaperone to attend the Membership Meeting, per diem for meals & incidentals.

The Native American Business Institute
 

  • "The Native American Business Institute is a FREE week-long pre-college summer program for Native American high school students that will be in the 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade during the upcoming school year.  Participants work with MSU admissions officers, college counselors, tribal community leaders, and corporate representatives in a seven-day “business boot-camp” that prepares students for the college and exposes them to numerous academic and professional opportunities." --Quoted from the NABI Website


Young Elected Legislative Leaders (YELL)

  • "YELL brings young leaders together from across South Dakota at the state capitol for a mock legislative session with Democratic leaders and political insiders. Participants have the opportunity to draft bills to chart South Dakota’s future, debate with real South Dakota legislators, and develop leadership skills for college. It’s free – We will cover all costs for lodging, food, and travel!"

College Horizons

  • This is a program about for students to learn about the college application process where students can learn about a variety of colleges and universities

  • Three sites participate and students attend for 6 days

  • Enrolled American Indian, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian students (10th or 11th Grade) who maintain a 3.00 GPA

Quest Bridge--College Prep Scholars Program

  • This program can benefit high-achieving, low-income students

  • Through this program students may:

    • participate in college visits to top colleges

    • receive scholarships

    • gain personalized feedback and resources to enhance your college applications


South Dakota Teen Legislature


Boys State & Girls State

  • An opportunity for incoming seniors to learn about government at multiple levels while making lasting connections with other students from across the state.

 

Muth Electric Job Shadowing

  • Shadow a licensed Journeyworker Electrician for 4 hours and ask questions about the career. You may also work speak with Human Resources department about apprentice training programs, education requirements, job growth, wage information, benefits, etc.


South Dakota Youth Trooper Academy

  • One week, expense paid, residential program for students interested in law enforcement or military service.

  • a $500 scholarship is offered to the top recruit.

  • Mrs. Martin can get you additional information if you're interested.


Indians Into Medicine Summer Institute Program (INMED SI)

  • This is a 6 week academic program for 7th-12th graders. Students stay in college dorms ath the University of North Dakota while studying subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Health, Math, and Communications.

SDSU Health Professions Career Camp

  • This camp helps educate high school students about many careers available in heath related professions. Students are able to take field trips to health-care facilities and interact with health professionals. Rising juniors and seniors are eligible to attend this 4 day camp.

  • This camp helps high school students pursue an interest in healthcare. Students are given hands on activities and are able to take field trips to health-care facilities and interact with health professionals. Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible to attend this 6 day camp.

National Farmworker Jobs Program

  • for students who have worked on a farm or ranch any time in the last 2 years who are attending a technical school OR are in the last 2 years of college and need help with rent and/or the cost of living expenses

  • Be nominated to serve the United States while receiving a 4 year scholarship to some of the nation's best higher education institutions

 

Davis-Bahcall Scholars Program

  • Summer program for college freshmen and sophomores to study dark matter and work in labs in the Black Hills

Four Bands Community Fund Internship

  • YOUTH ENTREPRENEUR INTERNSHIPS
    "Four Bands offers an internship program that gives high school students the chance to receive hands-on work experience, learn valuable skills, establish a regular pattern of saving, and purchase long-term assets. Youth Entrepreneur Interns contribute half of their earnings to a matched savings account, or Individual Development Account (IDA), in order to build an asset base and pattern of saving money. Participants can use their savings for higher education or starting a business"
