Welcome to Mrs. Sandquist’s Math and Science Class!
Hi! My name is Carla Sandquist, and I am your child’s math and science teacher!
I am excited to be working with your child this school year!
I love teaching math and science to all of the fifth graders. I like to use technology in the classroom, create hands-on activities, and bring in real-world applications of skills to the classroom to engage students.
I expect my students to complete their assigned work to the best of their ability. Students will be asked to correct all assignments to be sure they have learned the material completely. There will be some homework with our math curriculum. Please feel free to help your child with it or ask them to explain it to you. This will be our 8th year with our Investigations 3 math curriculum, and we are excited to see the growth that we made last year. We also are going to be using standards-based grading again this year. In 5th grade we also use google classroom as our learning management system. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to call, email, or stop by with any questions you have.
I ask that you would be sure to check your child’s homework folder each night for any important information. Your child will also be writing in a planner each day to help keep them organized throughout the day since they will have two teachers this year.
